Rajasthan is a land of forts and palaces. In whatever part of the state you will travel, you will several magnificent forts and palaces showing the architectural heritage of Rajasthan. Set against the rippling sand dunes, high hill tops, enormous deserts, lovely lakes, many of these forts and palaces now have been turned into heritage hotels which are superb blend of royal past and modern world.

Chittaurgarh Fort

It is one of the famous forts in Rajasthan. Located on a hilltop, 180 m above sea, Chittaurgarh Fort covers a staggering area of 700 acres. Constructed by the Mori rulers in the 7th century, umbrella shaped rooftops (chattri) and tablets are its distinct features. The chattris would later become an integral part of Rajasthani architecture.

Amber Fort - Near Jaipur
It is situated 11 km from Jaipur. It was once the ancient capital of Jaipur State. Raja Man Singh, the Rajput commander of Akbar's army started the construction of the fortress palace was in 1592.

Hawa Mahal Jaipur
Built in 1799, by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the Hawa Mahal Palace (Palace of the Wind , or Pink palace ) is one of the major landmarks of Jaipur (Rajasthan - India). The structure is an interplay of red and pink sand stone, carefully and painstakingly outlined with white borders and motifs.

City Palace Jaipur
Located in the capital of Rajasthan, the City Palace of Jaipur was not only a part of the former glory of India, but still serves as home to the former Maharaja.Strategically located in the heart of the Pink City of Jaipur, the architecture is an imposing blend of traditional Rajasthan and Mughal art. Sprawling over the one-seventh of the walled city, it is divided into a series of courtyards, gardens and buildings. It is home to several palatial structures like the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple, Mubarak Mahal, Mukut Mahal, and the City Palace Museum.

Umaid Bhawan Palace

The Umaid Bhawan Palace, in Jaisalmer, was built comparatively recently. It took 15 years to finish the construction of this lavish palace. Built of sandstone, the Umaid Bhawan Palace houses now houses a heritage hotel and a museum. Alisha Singh
